Aside from skin cancer, breast cancer is the most common form of malignancy in women. About 1 in 8 women are expected to develop breast cancer during their lifetime, and in the United States alone, about 40,000 are predicted to die from this disease in 2010. Despite intensive efforts, a need therefore persists for the development of new therapies. Our proposed study seeks to address this by investigating a new therapeutic approach for the treatment of breast cancer and multiple other cancer types.
