Lay Summary

Endometrial cancer (also known as uterine cancer) is a common cancer of women. We propose to study the most lethal but least understood kind of endometrial cancer, known as carcinosarcoma. We have discovered that a change in a gene called FBXW7 in the uterus leads to the formation of carcinosarcomas. We wish to understand how this happens. We hope that our studies will lead to improved diagnosis and new treatments for this relatively rare but unusually deadly cancer.
