My overall goals and objectives are to publish high-quality, high-impact research that transforms our understanding of cancer immunity and motivates novel immunotherapeutic approaches to hematologic malignancies, starting in the post-transplant setting. I aim to develop a state-of-the-art academic research lab focused on studying mechanisms of co-evolution between cancer and immune cells that dictate clinical outcomes to immunotherapies.

To achieve this goal, I seek a tenure-track faculty position at an academic medical center that provides me with strong research support and computational resources, access to well-annotated biorepositories of cryopreserved samples representing a diversity of therapeutic settings, basic and clinical collaborators, a pool of highly motivated trainees to stimulate research in my lab and be mentored, and a strong community and research environment dedicated to scientific innovation.

Receipt of the CPRIT First Time Tenure Track Award would greatly facilitate my achievement of the following goals for my laboratory within the first 3-5 years of the award:

1. Develop and share a coherent set of findings that illuminate the molecular and cellular mechanisms shaping immunologic control of relapsed leukemia after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplant (allo-SCT).
2. Initiate 1-2 clinical trials directly motivated by the results of our work aimed at improving outcomes for relapse after allo-SCT.
3. Publish several high-impact papers.
4. Achieve national recognition by scientific peers and colleagues as a leader in the field.
5. Obtain extramural funding, including 1-2 NIH R01 and 1-2 R21 grants.
6. Train and provide effective mentoring to motivated trainees (including postdocs, clinical fellows, graduate/medical students) to transition them to their position or institution of choice.
7. Build and establish a collegial, interactive, creative, and impactful environment for trainees and collaborators
