CPRIT Product Development Program Applications for FY 2023 Awards

At its meeting on May 18, 2022, CPRIT’s Oversight Committee approved four FY 2023 requests for applications (RFAs) for the Product Development Research program.  The Oversight Committee also approved changes to the product development application and review process for the FY 2023 review cycle. 

The Texas Comptroller’s Office is currently reviewing the proposed Product Development Program RFAs.  CPRIT will release the RFAs after the Comptroller’s review, which we expect to occur in July.  CPRIT staff plan to open the portal to receive preliminary applications in August. (more)

Notice Regarding FY22 and FY23 Academic Research Program Budget

CPRIT’s Academic Research Program received an unprecedented number of high-quality applications over the past nine months (September 2021-May 2022) and awarded more Individual Investigator Research Awards (IIRAs) and Recruitment Scholar Awards in February and May than in previous years (40% more IIRAs and 20% more Recruitment Awards). 

CPRIT Oversight Committee approves almost $48 million in recruitment grants

(AUSTIN) Today, the Oversight Committee, the governing body of the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT), has approved a slate of 17 recruitment awards for a total of almost $48 million, bringing eminent cancer researchers from across the country to Texas institutions.

CPRIT announces 74 new grants for over $112 million to expand innovations in cancer research and prevention in Texas

(AUSTIN) — The Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT) announced 74 new cancer research and prevention grants totaling over $112,768,740. The projects approved today include 65 academic research grant awards, seven prevention awards, and two product development research awards granted to 16 institutions and companies across the state. These awards will expand access to clinical trials, incubate innovative cancer research, support the state’s emerging biotechnology industry, provide needed cancer screenings for underserved Texans and recruit outstanding cancer researchers to Texas.

Dr. Mahendra Patel Reappointed to CPRIT Oversight Committee

(AUSTIN) Today, Wayne Roberts, CEO of the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute (CPRIT) announced that Speaker of the Texas House of Representatives Dade Phelan reappointed Mahendra C. Patel, M.D., P.A., to the CPRIT Oversight Committee.  Dr. Patel has been a member of the Oversight Committee, CPRIT’s governing body that approves grants funded through the agency, since 2018 and currently serves as Presiding Officer.
